Understanding a 4D Results Page

After each draw, operators publish a results page showing all winning numbers for that session. At first glance, these pages can look complex — but they follow a clear structure once you know what to look for.

A standard 4D result display shows 23 winning numbers arranged into five prize tiers. Here's how to interpret each section.

The Five Prize Tiers

Prize TierNumbers DrawnPayout (Big / Small)
1st Prize1 numberHighest payout
2nd Prize1 numberSecond highest
3rd Prize1 numberThird highest
Starter Prize10 numbersModerate payout
Consolation Prize10 numbersLowest payout

Note: Exact payout amounts vary by operator and your chosen bet type (Big or Small). Always check with your operator for current prize schedules.

Step-by-Step: Checking Your Ticket

  1. Find the correct draw date. Results are specific to each draw session. Make sure you're viewing results for the date your ticket was purchased for.
  2. Locate your operator. If you bet with Magnum, check Magnum's results — results are not interchangeable between operators.
  3. Look for your exact number in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Prize positions first.
  4. Scan the Starter and Consolation sections — these contain 10 numbers each, so take your time reading carefully.
  5. Check your bet type. If you bet Small, only Top 3 positions count. If you bet Big, all 23 positions count.
  6. Check permutations (if applicable). If you placed a System Entry or iBet, any permutation of your number appearing in any prize tier is a win.

Big Bet vs. Small Bet Payout Rules

This is a common source of confusion for new players:

  • A Big bet wins if your number appears in any of the 23 prize positions — but payouts for 1st/2nd/3rd are lower than the Small equivalent.
  • A Small bet only wins if your number is the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Prize number — but the prize for matching is significantly higher.

Think of it this way: Big = more chances to win something. Small = fewer chances, but bigger reward if you win top tier.

What Happens After You Win?

  • Claim period: Prizes must typically be claimed within 180 days of the draw date. Check your operator's specific policy.
  • Where to claim: Small prizes can often be claimed at any authorised outlet. Larger prizes may require visiting the operator's main office.
  • What to bring: Your original ticket (do not fold, crumple, or damage it) and a valid ID.
  • Tax considerations: In Singapore and Malaysia, lottery winnings are generally not subject to personal income tax — but this may change, so verify with current regulations.

Tips for Reading Results Accurately

  • Use the operator's official website or app — avoid third-party results sites which may have errors or delays.
  • Double-check digits carefully — it's easy to misread similar-looking numbers (e.g., 6 vs. 9, 1 vs. 7).
  • Save a screenshot of your results check for reference when claiming.
  • If in doubt, take your physical ticket to any outlet — staff can verify it electronically on the spot.
